Cybersecurity is not a pivot for me — it's a direction I've been building toward. I recently completed the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, developing hands-on skills in Linux, SQL, Python, and Wireshark, and gaining practical experience with SIEM tools like Splunk, IDS systems, and network protocol analyzers including Tcpdump and Suricata. Through TryHackMe labs, I've applied these tools to real scenarios — analyzing packet traffic, investigating incidents with Splunk, and exploring Windows forensics. I'm drawn to the discipline of this field: the rigor, the stakes, and the opportunity to protect the systems and communities that organizations serve.
What I bring to cybersecurity is grounded in four-plus years of coordinating complex, high-stakes operations across the construction and nonprofit sectors. As an Assistant Project Manager at THG Companies, I managed multi-phase commercial construction projects — administering digital workflows, keeping cross-functional teams aligned under pressure, and maintaining the kind of documentation discipline that regulated environments demand. At Trident Builders, I oversaw compliance reporting and audit-ready recordkeeping for a federally funded joint venture, developing a deep familiarity with the operational rigor that governance and accountability frameworks require. At Taratibu Youth Association, I strengthened organizational systems, managed communications across multiple platforms, and conducted ongoing quality assurance testing — skills that translate directly into security operations, risk documentation, and keeping an organization's information infrastructure running cleanly.
My longer-term vision is a role where cybersecurity and program management aren't parallel tracks — they're one integrated function. Whether that leads to a senior GRC position, a cybersecurity program management seat, or IT risk leadership, I'm focused right now on building the compliance knowledge, framework fluency, and technical depth that make that trajectory possible. If you're working in GRC, security operations, or IT risk and open to connecting — I'd genuinely welcome the conversation.
